This performance based program is like an age group All-Star team for the Bow Valley and runs from September to December. This select team is hand picked from the best players in the region at the age group and will compete against the top teams in weekly games against some of the top club teams in the province. All players will get to play in every game however a variance in playing time is to be expected. The program is designed to deliver top level coaching targeted at boosting individual skill development, executing advanced game tactics and strategies in a fun and competitive team environment while preparing for the next level of basketball.

Bow Valley Basketball Competitive teams practice 3 times per week. Once the season begins there will be one game weekly in Calgary.
Expectations is that Competitive TEAM athletes will attend all practices and games. Exceptions of course will occur due to illness, family emergency, travel etc however every effort should be made to attend all team activities. Failure to do so will affect athlete game participation.

Club fees cover the following costs: League / Tournament Fees, Team Reversible Practice Jersey and Practice Shirt, Team Insurance, Gym fees, Coaching costs and other associated expenses.

Bow Valley Basketball will strive to have teams that consist of a target of 10 players that are born in the same year. While this may vary slightly, the club believes that running a team with more than 10-11 players can be harmful to player development due to limited playing time for some players. Players normally play within their age group, however, based on our smaller community it is possible that teams will be constructed by merging two age groups together in order to field a team (IE U10 players + U11 players = U11 team). In special cases, certain players with a higher skill level may be able to play on an older team.  This decision is made by the club directors on a case-by-case basis.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS:
One of the core values of the program is that financial circumstance should not prevent a motivated and committed athlete from playing the game they love at a high level. Players interested in or requiring financial assistance may contact Kidsport http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/, Jumpstart http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/, or Work to Play programs.
In addition to these options, Bow Valley Basketball is already offering payment plans to those who require it. We are also pursuing other financial assistance and fundraising initiatives. Details of these will be shared as soon as they are finalized. For more information on these programs please contact us directly at 403-707-9250.
