2024 U-11 Boys & Girls Development Program: Sep to Nov
2024 U-11 Boys & Girls Development Program: Sep to Nov
This fun, skill development program features 3 practices per week in which we focus on skill development, team tactics and game play.
Turn 11 to 9 in the current calendar year.
This development based program runs from September to December. The team is open to players who turn 11 in the current year or younger. While there are no leagues available for this age group in the fall, we will have small scrimmages at every practice and will seek opportunities to participate in exhibition play with other programs if possible. The program is designed to deliver top level coaching targeted at boosting individual skill development, learning basic game tactics and strategies in a fun and competitive team environment while preparing for the next level of basketball.
Athletes will receive a Reversible Team Jersey and Warm Up Shirt once the season gets under way and the gear arrives.
Expectations for team athletes is that they will attend all practices and games. Exceptions of course will occur due to illness, family emergency, travel etc however every effort should be made to attend all team activities.
Club fees cover the following costs: Team Reversible Practice Jersey and Practice Shirt, Gym booking fees, Coaching costs, Team Insurance, and other incidental costs.
Bow Valley Basketball will strive to have teams that consist of a target of 10 players that are born in the same year. While this may vary slightly, the club believes that running a team with more than 10-11 players can be harmful to player development due to limited playing time for some players. Players normally play within their age group, however, based on our smaller community it is possible that teams will be constructed by merging two age groups together in order to field a team (IE U10 players + U11 players = U11 team). In special cases, certain players with a higher skill level may be able to play on an older team. This decision is made by the club directors on a case-by-case basis.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS:
One of the core values of the program is that financial circumstance should not prevent a motivated and committed athlete from playing the game they love at a high level. Players interested in or requiring financial assistance may contact Kidsport http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/, Jumpstart http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/, or Work to Play programs.
In addition to these options, Bow Valley Basketball is already offering payment plans to those who require it. We are also pursuing other financial assistance and fundraising initiatives. Details of these will be shared as soon as they are finalized. For more information on these programs please contact us directly at 403-707-9250.
